Georgia Begbie was born and raised in Bern by a Scottish mother and an Irish father. She completed her dance studies at the Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg. During the final year of her studies (2017/2018) she worked with various local companies and choreographers including Guilherme Miotto, Marina Mascarell and The100Hands.
After her graduation in July 2018 she started working as a freelance dancer with La Trottier Dance in Mannheim. In 2019 she joined Corpo Máquina to take part in the social-artistic piece PORTRAITS, choreographed by Guilherme Miotto.
More recently, Georgia has started developing her own work. She has taken part in several artistic residencies in Italy, and spent April 2019 working as an artist-in-residence at the Townhouse Gallery in Cairo.
Together with Kollektiv Synchron she developed the piece ‘my own echo chamber’, which premiered in Mannheim in February 2020. Currently she is collaborating with dancer Anna Zurkirchen and circus artist and vocalist Laurence Felber to create their new dance performance BLINDSPOTS.
As a dancer Georgia looks for how our inner and outer worlds meet, how they can move us and how we can give into the instinctive movement of our body.
